"Hear what I say...if I don't see my family again, tell all my people that I love them." These were the last words my uncle spoke to me. This book is fulfillment of the promise I made to him. It is a book about a good and honorable man who unmistakably loved work, loved life and loved all his people.
This book is not:
- This book is not a day-to-day account of the life of my uncle. In fact, it is not even a year-to-year account.
- This book is not an attempt to count my uncles's every footstep or to recollect his every utterance.
- This book is not an attempt at literary genius or professional genealogy.
What this book is:
- First and foremost, this book is fulfillment of a promise.
- This book is to establish an eternal flame of memory of a good and honorable man.
- This book is to give words and voice to a story my uncle himself would have written had he been so academically favored and blessed.
- This book, like all my other books, is an effort to enlighten, inform, encourage, and educate particularly for the generations coming forth.
- This book is to vividly link our past and our present with our future, and again, especially for the benefit of future generations.
- Last but not least, this book is my tribute to an uncle that I greatly loved, greatly respected, and greatly admired.
