B.N. Shaw in this book, offers new answers to these and many more timeless questions in simple language using the Bible as his primary source.

Born and brought up in India, he came to the United States in 1963 for graduate study at The University of Iowa where he received his master's degree in journalism in 1965. He came to Mississippi in 1965 and has been in Mississippi since then except for a brief period (1975-76) in Birmingham, Alabama where he served as the Academic Dean of Daniel Payne College. He received a doctor of education degree in higher education from The University of Mississippi in 1972.

He has served as a teacher most part of his life, both in India and the United States. He has served as an instructor/administrator at Tougaloo College, Rust College, Mary Holmes College, Jackson State University, and Alcorn State University. He is currently serving as the Director of Writing Center at Mississippi Valley State University.

Although In the Name of God is not his first published work, it is his first major work on religion. He published in 1973 Academic Tenure in Higher American Education based on his doctoral dissertation at The University of Mississippi. Some of his poems have been published in several poetry anthologies during the past five years.
