Paul Leppert has a lifelong interest in the relationship of science and religion. In earning a B.S. in psychology from the University of Illinois in 1956, he concentrated on cultural imprinting. He later earned an M.A. in East Asian history from the University of Colorado. With his wife, Rose, he studied Mandarin for three years at Taiwan National University in the 1960s. In 1966-7 he took part in a year-long cultural interchange program at the East-West Center, Honolulu, under the auspices of the U.S. State Department. Six of Paul’s previous books address the influence of Asian cultures, including religions, on the conduct of modern business.

As a vice president of Holden-Day, Inc., a publisher specializing in the sciences, Paul Leppert had intensive national contact with professors and researchers at the cutting edge of research in physics, chemistry, and cosmology. He has visited religious and cultural sites in Japan, China, India, Iran, Greece, France, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea and took instruction in Buddhism at temples in Taiwan and Japan. Paul and his wife started two Unitarian fellowships.
